What happens to your text and files

Nothing you type, paste or upload is sent anywhere. PDFs are read and pages are drawn entirely inside your browser, on your device. There is no account, no upload, and no server that ever sees your content.

Your most recent text, settings and any handwriting styles you save are kept in your browser's local storage so they are still there next time. Clearing your browser data removes them. They never leave your device unless you export them yourself.

What we do collect

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless and does not identify you. We also count a handful of anonymous events, such as "a PDF was loaded" or "pages were downloaded", so we know which features get used. These events contain no text, filenames, or settings.

Third parties your browser talks to

To work, the page loads handwriting fonts from Google Fonts and two small libraries (pdf.js and JSZip) from public CDNs. Those services see your IP address and browser details in the normal way any website resource does. They never receive your content.

Terms of use

Scrawl is provided as is, for free, with no warranty. It makes images that imitate handwriting. You are responsible for how you use those images and for following the rules of your school, workplace or country. Don't use it to deceive anyone in a way that harms them.
